The 2009 Bob Cliffe Memorial...
The 2009 Bob Cliffe Memorial Golf Tournament is fast approaching. The forecast (as of today) is calling for above seasonal temperatures and sunny conditions. This year November 15th falls on a Sunday and will be the last chance for 4 years to be able to play on a weekend. One year when Bob and I went out to play on his birthday, we were in the middle of Indian Summer. The temperature that day was close to 20°C and we played at Les Quatre Domaine. I think this year we're going to have such a nice day that I'm going to try and book some tee times on that course. Emails will be sent out today to get confirmations and if you haven't received an email, send me one and I'll include you on the list.

2008 Bob Cliffe Memorial is in the books
The 2008 Bob Cliffe Memorial Golf Tournament is in the books and both the leaderboard and the photo gallery has been updated. It was a wet day as it rained pretty much from the second hole on. Once again it started out as a Scottish Mist but then soon became a steady light rain. Our defending champion Jocelyn Crepeau was missing from the field so that opened the door for possibly a new champion. Unfortunately the conditions were tough to score well and yours truly was able to hold off the field for a 2nd title championship. Bob would have been proud again this year of all the golfers that were out there at the crack of dawn. A special thanks goes out to Craig Morris who traveled from Toronto to play this year. Because of work restrictions the past two years, he wasn't able to participate but this year he wasn't going to miss it. Also a special thanks goes out to Rocking Randy who came out to be the official Bob Cliffe photographer. He battled the elements with everyone else just so that we could chronicle the days event. Next years event falls on a Sunday and this will be the last weekend event for 4 years. You'll have to wait until 2013 to play again on a weekend. So book next years day off and I'll see you all out on some course in the Montreal area regardless of what the weather is like on November 15th, 2009.

2008 Golf Course announced
The 2008 addition of the Bob Cliffe Memorial Golf Tournament is going to take place at Golf Saint-Raphaël in I'le Bizard. Tee Times are schedule for 8:00 am and everyone is asked to show up at 7:45 so that we can set the pairings up. Frost should not be a factor and if the forecast holds true, we should get lucky and avoid the rain. A reminder for everyone to bring their Bob rock with them and some spirits to keep yourself warm. We are once again going to be heading to Bar Hymus after the round for lunch and drinks and to cheer on the Alouettes. To get all the details click here.

2008 addition getting close
The 2008 addition of the Bob Cliffe Memorial Golf Tournament is fast approaching. The long range forecast is calling for above seasonal temperatures but we might see some rain again this year. Of course with two weeks until we tee it up, things can change. This year November 15th is also the day the Montreal Alouettes play in the Eastern Finals starting at 1:00 pm. Because of that I hope to try and get an early start this year. November 15th falls on a Saturday so it's a weekend golf day and if it ends up being a nice day (I've played in a short sleave shirt on that day) then there could be other crazy golfers out there. I'm shooting for an 8:00 am start but Mother Nature is in control of that. Because if there is a risk of frost or there was frost the night before, then there will be a delay in the tee times. If there is a delay, then WHERE we play might have to change at the last minute. I'll be checking the weather forecast and long range forecast and I'll be making calls to golf courses to find out which ones are still open. The plan was to play at Quatre Domaine this year, but they will definitely delay tee times if there was frost the night before. I might go back to Atlantide (Don Quichotte course) because they were more flexible with tee times. If it ends up being crazy cold or snow, then we're heading to Riviere Rouge or Sainte-Zotique.

2007 Photo Gallery is updated
It only took me a year but the Photo Gallery from the 2007 edition has finally been updated. As you'll see it was a cold and soggy day and although we didn't have an official photographer that day, we just pasted the camera around from group to group. Click on Gallery link to access the page.

2007 Bob Cliffe Memorial is in the books

Well it was more of a Scottish Mist but good thing the wind stayed calm. I think everyone had a good time and I'm looking forward to next year which falls on a Saturday. Congratulations go out to Jocelyn Crepeau as he fired a net 74 to take top honors. Bob would have been proud of all the golfers as they battled the elements out there. You're all nuts to play golf in November and I'll see you all next year. ('°¸°')

Tee Times & Course set
The Tee Times and course are set. We will be playing at Atlantide Golf Course (the Atlantide course) and our Tee Times are set for 10:00 a.m. I ask that everyone get there no later than 9:30 so that we can set the groups up and take some pictures. Don't forget to bring your Bob rock with you and some rain gear and maybe a change of clothes for after the round. If you want to hit a bucket of balls before hand, get there a little earlier still to allow for that.

2007 Course announced
The 2007 version of the Bob Cliffe Memorial Golf Tournament is set in motion. I am trying to set up this years tournament at Atlantide (the Atlantide course) but will only find out a few days before. The Don Quichotte course will be closing soon but the main course will remain open until there's snow on the ground. If that's the case, I will come up with an alternative plan so stay tuned and check your emails...

Nov 15th Photo Gallery is up
The photo gallery for the November 15th, Tournament is up. Click on Gallery link to access the page. Thanks must go out to Ramona for the August 2006 tournament and to Randy for the November tournament. Both were troopers and took some nice pictures. We had a cold day in August and it shows just how much the weather can change. On November 15th the temperature outside was 10 ° C. We were in short sleeve shirts and it was a perfect day. Randy zooming around in the golf cart was able to take some great pictures.

Website opens
The official Bob Cliffe Memorial Golf site opens on November 13th, 2006. I've done this so that in years to come, everyone will have a place to go to find out the details about the upcoming years tournament.

The photo gallery for the Pre-Memorial Golf Tournament held on August 20th has been posted. A special thanks goes out to Ramona for surviving the elements and taking those great pictures on the picturesque Par 3.

Over 50 golfers pay tribute
50+ golfers headed out at on the Don-Quichotte golf course and battled the elements in August. You wouldn't think that on August 20th there would be any problem with cold weather, but in 2006 that was the case. The wind was blowing and it felt like November out there but Bob's friends came out in force. Not everyone finished (understandable) but everyone had a blast.

Don-Quichotte golf course hosts
Unlike in November when we go where ever a course is open, the Pre-Memorial Golf Tournament needed to find a host course and the Don-Quichotte golf course was that course. It's a nice layout and is a good challenge for everyone.

Memorial Tournament announced
Because not everyone will be able to play in the official Memorial Golf Tournament in November, a Pre-Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on August 20th, 2006. We're expecting a good turn out and we're hoping for a beautiful day.
